Morning Wedding on St. John
May 14, 2010
Stacie and Tim traveled from Michigan to have their destination wedding on Cinnamon Bay Beach, St. John in the US Virgin Islands. On the morning of May 10, 2010 the light and color was Caribbean picture perfect at their wedding, performed by Anne Marie Porter. My personal favorite time of day for a wedding is in the morning, because the light and colors are amazing. If it is an elopement, like Stacie and Tim’s wedding, then you have the whole day to yourselves to celebrate.
The main attraction to St. John for Stacie and Tim was all of the outdoor activities they could do while visiting. The Virgin Islands National Park is 7,200 acres of land and 5,600 acres of protected reefs and ocean, which takes up three quarters of St. John, offering an endless amount of things to do in nature. Hiking, snorkeling, sailing and a vast array of beautiful beaches await. The best thing about getting married on St. John is that it not only provides fantastic locations for your ceremony, but also provides a great honeymoon spot all in one location.

Love on St. John
Jennifer and Stephen chose St. John for their destination wedding because it was on this beautiful island that they first exchanged those magical words, "I love you!" for the first time.
There are so many reason why couples choose to get married on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Which is why it is one of the most popular places for a destination wedding. The island itself, has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world because most of the island is undeveloped. Two-thirds of St. John is U.S. National Park, and is about 20 square miles with a population of 4,197.
Because St. John is an American Territory it is extremely easy for U.S. Citizens to plan their destination wedding in the U.S. Virgin Islands. There is no need for a passport, the official currency is the U.S. dollar, most cruise ships will stop at St. Thomas, a 20 minute ferry ride away, and there are no residency or blood test requirements to get married on St. John.
A concern that Jennifer and Steve had when planning their wedding was, if people would come all the way from Chicago to be at their wedding on St. John. About 50 friends and family joined them at the Westin St. John Resort & Villas to hear their wedding vows exchanged at the oceanside gazebo. The Westin Resort had plenty of accommodations for everyone attending and it seemed as if the guests were just as relaxed as the happy couple. They brought down their own ordained minister, Tricia Arthur, a cousin of the groom's, from Chicago to perform the ceremony. Michelle Keeley, the Westin's wedding specialist, took care of all the wedding arrangements.
